With the help of local businesses, Hattie Dyer Elementary held their 5th Annual, and most successful, Christmas toy drive. Thanks to their support and the generosity of the Krum community, over 1,000 toys were donated to benefit Krum children in need.
In 2018, the Third Grade Safety Patrol at Hattie Dyer Elementary decided they wanted to do something for their community. They knew that some children in the Krum community were less fortunate than them, and they set out to make a difference in their Christmas by launching a toy drive that quickly became a tradition that our small town rallies behind in order to make a difference in the holidays of Krum families that need them the most.
Countless community members donated toys to the Dyer campus, in addition to our business partners:
C & G Electric
Eclipse Jiu-Jitsu & Grappling Academy
Ferguson Electric
Joy Grace & Co.
Krum Clips Salon
Krum Dental Associates
Krum Nutrition& Energy
Krum Veterinary Hospital
Napa Autoparts of Denton
Spencer's Auto Repair
Tudy's Tacos
On Thursday, December 8, these local businesses showed up at Dyer with vehicles full of toys for children of every age in Krum. The Safety Patrol helped unload over 1,000 toys into their school that morning- the most toys ever collected in the toy drive!
Hattie Dyer Elementary Principal Lindsey Boone, Assistant Principal Macy Faught, and Counselor Kim Carns will coordinate the gifts based on the interests and likes of the children these toys will go to. Once all needs they know of are met, the remaining toys will be assessed, and a secret porch drop will take place if possible. With so many families not wanting to reach out for help, a secret porch drop will enable the toy drive to support them this holiday season.
Krum ISD would like to thank the Third Grade Safety Patrol, teachers, and staff at Hattie Dyer Elementary, C & G Electric, Eclipse Jiu-Jitsu & Grappling Academy, Ferguson Electric, Joy Grace & Co., Krum Clips Salon, Krum Dental Associates, Krum Nutrition& Energy, Krum Veterinary Hospital, Napa Autoparts of Denton, Spencer's Auto Repair, Tudy's Tacos, and the entire Krum community for their generosity, compassion and support in making this drive such a success.
